  11. Barra is the synthesis of Salvador da Bahia. Porto da Barra beach is extremely diverse and entertaining: you can play soccer, fresco ball, volleyball, people watch, drink coconut water, cycle or run along the board walk. On the weekends the beach gets filled by baianos, who literary spend the whole day chatting and sunbathing: a flamboyant gay community hangs out in the northern edge of Porto da Barra beach, a stream of perfectly carved bodies decorates the sand, and surfers battle with the strong currents of Farol Beach.

The summer sunsets on Porto da Barra beach are the perfect ingredients to a romantic holiday, you can watch the sunsets behind ‘Itaparica Island’ while sipping on a cold beer or simply sitting on the beach and reward the day with a final clap and cheer. Believe it or not, topless is not permitted in any of Salvadors beaches, considered too revealing and quite vulgar, on the other hand tiny Brazilian bikinis are a must in Porto da Barra beach. Brazils best-known attribute: the perfectly shaped women’s bottom.
